pfSense - Upgrade from 2.4.5-RELEASE-p1 to 2.5.0 fails miserably

Update: The problem were caused by a badly configured gateway that  2.4.5 discards but takes effect when migrating to 2.5.0

So, seems that our well known and beloved pfSense fails when updating from 2.4.5-RELEASE-p1 to 2.5.0.

Launched the update from the console as I usually do : after  several minutes, my new 2.5.0 booted and... nothing, nada, zip,zilch,zero.. No network connection.

WAN Interface: Up and running, DHCP acquired from the modem.

LAN Interface: Fixed IP, up and running

Ping to a famous ping destination: "Host unreachable, stop bothering me with nonsense about n.n.n.n and so"

nslookup: "I don't know anything about www.(whatever).com. Go ask your mom."

Rolled back to my previous checkpoint (VM rules!):  everything fine...

No 2.5.0 for me.

Netgate has a policy of removing old versions for security reasons., so grab a copy of  2.4.5-RELEASE-p1 isos, memstick and so while you can. There's a lot of repos out there, but be sure to check the images SHAs.
